Airbus reveals the self driving 'transformer' taxi that can be picked up by a drone to take to the skies

Airbus unveiled a new concept that could put an end to the traffic jams.

Called Pop.Up, the modular system consist of a two-seat capsule that works like a car or that can be routed to the destination of the runner by a vertical take-off and one vehicle air landing when the roads are too congested.

Once passengers arrive at their destination, both air and ground components will return to the dedicated charging stations where they will have to wait to be summoned by the following clients.

Airbus has unveiled a new concept that could put an end to traffic jams. Called Pop.Up, the modular system consist of a two-seater capsule that functions as a car or can be carried to the rider's destination by a vertical take-off and landing air vehicle when the roads are too congested

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Passengers call the two-seater capsule using a designated application.

They connect to their destination and the application determines the best mode of transport - land, air, or both.

Once inside the capsule, the system analysis face of the user for security reasons.

The two-seater capsule consist of cocoon of carbon fiber monocoque which measures 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) long, 4.5 feet (1.4 m) high and 16 feet (m) wide.

And he is able to transform into a car by coupling with the field module, which runs on a battery.

If traffic becomes too heavy, just call a drone to retrieve your car andit will fly you to your destination.

And those passengers to their destination, the capsule allows their output and independent trips to where dedicated charging stations waiting to be summoned by her next client.

Pop.Up is a collaboration between Airbus and Italdesign, a design and engineering based in Italy, firm that introduced the concept in the world at the Geneva international motor show.

"Today, cars are part of a much broader eco-system: If you want to design the urban vehicle of the future, the traditional car cannot be the solution for megacities, you should also think about sustainable and intelligent infrastructure, apps, integration and systems supply, town planning, social aspects and so on,' Italdesign CEO Jörg Astalosch, said in a statement."

In the next years the land transport will move to the next level and be shared, connected and autonomous too shall pass multi modal and moving into the third dimension.

Passengers simply book their trip using a companion app and the system automatically suggests the
best transport solution based on the calendar, jams, costs and carpooling requests.

Using this information, Pop.Up lists what options he feels are reasonable for your trip - either on the ground, air, or the combination of the two.

The two-seater capsule, which will roll up on your site and once youhave ordered, consist of cocoon of carbon fiber monocoque which measures 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) long, 4.5 feet (1.4 m) high and 16 feet(m) wide.

And he is able to transform a car in coupling with the field module, which runs on a battery - it can travel 62 miles (100 kilometers) on a single charge.

The capsule will scan the faces of passengers for authenticity and a video concept, it will show also contained on the screen for users to watch when they travel.

But if you are in traffic, made simply for an air of take-off and vertical landing vehicle take you and the CAP upward.

For travel with strong megalopolis congested traffic, the capsule disconnects from the module to the ground and is carried by an air module 5 of 4.4 meters powered by eight contra-rotating rotors,"Airbus said.

"Pop.Up in this configuration becomes a vehicle auto air piloted in urban areas, taking advantage of the third dimension to get from A toB efficiently all traffic on the ground."

Once the passengers to their destination, the capsule and the air vehicle travel to the dedicated charging stations where they are waiting to be summoned by their next custome

Pop.Up is considered the first modular, fully electric, zero system of vehicle emission concept, designed to ease the traffic congestion in the overcrowded megalopolis, Airbus noted that more than 10 million people will live in megacities in the next 30 years.

'The workable concept is the result of a common reflection on the way to the challenges of mobility of megacities achievable for most, who became one of the most pressing problems for commuters in
megacities in the world, Italdesign, and Airbus' shared Airbus.

"With traffic congestion will increase enormously by 2030, the companies decided to combine their engineering expertise to address how to best achieve a system of urban mobility sustainable, modular, multimodal - giving rise to the notion of Pop.Up.
